Intuitively, access to credit seems to be conditioned mainly by the level of wealth; however, there is empirical evidence that there are other reasons or factors that may be of greater weight when deciding on whether or not to grant a loan to an applicant. Therefore, this study seeks to analyze the determinants of access to credit in a small parish in Latacunga canton in Ecuador. For this purpose, secondary information from the Socioeconomic Observatory of the Technical University of Cotopaxi was used and probit and logit models were developed, not only to determine the factors but also to check consistency across both models. As the main determinants of access to credit, "number of people per room" is the most relevant factor and shows an inverse relationship with the granting of credit. Next, "home ownership" and "age" follow in importance and have a direct relationship.
