This article relates an important historical event in Ecuador: The Indigenous protest of June 1990. An episode that has been told from different approaches of the social sciences, and that in the present, we locate it from the communication processes deployed while they were going happening the facts. The empirical work incorporates the look, the story and the place of enunciation of the protagonists themselves, of those who organized the national boiling that emerged in the province of Chimborazo. We relate the day to day of how this process of indigenous struggle and organization in the Escuelas Radiofónicas Populares del Ecuador (ERPE), the first popular and community radio in the country, was set up in Riobamba in 1962. The indigenous leaders took over the facilities of the radio, not only as a means of communication and mere transmission of information, but also as a space for articulation between actors and organization of indigenous struggle. These facts marked a before and after in the social configuration of our country and region.
